Cars is a four letter word
My car for the past five and a half years has been a very dependable, satisfactory Mercury Sable. Maybe it wasn't the most stylish, classy, ride, but it's been perfect at getting me from A to B. Until two months ago. And then again three weeks ago. And then, one more time last weekend. Because of this, I've basically been in a bad mood whenever cars are mentioned. So, in an attempt to make myself feel better, I'm going to list the things that have been good about my car problems.
1. I've now tried out Salt Lake's public transportation and found it isn't so bad. And, now that I had to learn how to get from the trax stop by the hospital to my building, I've found out where they sell hard serve ice cream. I'm just waiting for a really bad day to try it out.
2. My schedule is almost completely flexible. This means if it takes longer than I anticipate to ride trax to school, it's okay. And, if I want to get a ride from my roommate when she leaves for work at 5:15am, I can.
3. When I go into work at 5:30am, I can get an impressive amount of stuff done before 8. And I can listen to AC/DC or Weezer as loud as I want.
4. I can now buy myself a newer car without feeling guilty about the one I have that is running just fine. Because it isn't.
5. It's October, so while it's chilly, I don't have to freeze while waiting outside for the bus.
6. My car has always died in relatively convenient places and at convenient times. Like not starting before I leave for work, so at least I'm stranded at home. Or during the hours mechanics are open, so I can drive straight to the shop.

Highlights from summer part one
In May, I went home for a weekend and was able to be there while my sister went to prom. Then at the end of the month, my entire family got together in Tucson for my nephew Gabriel Porter's blessing.
While there I got to play with my niece Naomi and nephew Nolan, paint Naomi's nails for the first time, and in general have a fun and relaxing time.
Utah
I never thought at any point during my four years in Provo while going to BYU that I'd say this, but here it is: I like living in Utah. I love having the mountains and canyons so close and accessible. I love that it's consistently sunny everyday of the summer. I love that both of my sisters-in-law are from Utah so that I can see my brothers' families when they come to visit. I love being near downtown salt lake and that it's big enough to have a downtown, but not so big that it's crowded. And I love that my church is within comfortable walking distance even when I wear heels.
